I Should Give Up Trying…

Filed under: Blogosphere — Robert @ 11:30 pm

…trying to work on Sunday evenings, anyway. For the past two months, I’ve geared up for a productive Sunday evening grind only to be distracted by the seductively slippery banana peel that is the Evangelical Outpost’s “33 Things” weekly roundup.

This time, however, I am prepared. I will send YOU to do the reading while I bask in glorious productivity! Some highlights:

An interesting find in Biblical archaeology validates a throwaway reference in the book of Jeremiah.

I’m not sure what to make of this.

Christian environmentalism, and an acknowledgement of the first things.

Where are they now? “The Princess Bride” cast, 20 years down the line.

The other 29 entries are pretty good, too. Enjoy.

  1. Thanks, but no thanks, Robert. I’ve got better things to do on Sunday night than read Evangelical Outpost’s “33 Things” weekly roundup.

    Sleep, for one thing.

  2. Robert,
I get the distinct impression that you are an unbeliever. Turn your heart and mind by going to see the Creation Museum (road-trip to Kentucky or online You can even ride a dinosaur, and who needs more proof than that???

  3. I’m a Catholic. We’re lucky; all of the Jesus with none of the mandatory anti-intellectualism. I don’t need to visit the Creationist Museum; I already know enough crazy people.

  4. Riding a fake polystyrene dinosaur for proof of literal Creationism…

At least it takes more of a thought process than that allegedly “fossilized” pickle that someone was foisting off as evidence. But not quite as much thought process as this guy.

I’d say something about this thought process not being much more than enough to change a light bulb in a darkened room, but that would be cruel and unkind.

  6. My god, talk about wanting to conclude…. Let me guess, you all think people back in 550 BC had different names? I can just imagine in 4,000 years a historian finds the following: “H.Clinton get sex change operation at Northwestern University!” And then the headlines: “President Clinton lived with man!”

    Ha ha ha…

Names are always very very difficult to match, that has always been true. These languages are mostly phonetical in nature.

    Ha ha ha…
