So why again is Rumsfeld being taken seriously as a source? He's Ken Lay touting Enron stock. He's OJ talking about domestic violence. Your point?

Hey, Amp, there's another entry for your male privilege checklist; "the comic book characters I view as personal role models are much less likely to be raped and/or killed for dramatic effect by lazy writers".

The "Women in Refrigerators" list I ran across following links from the "Girl Wonder" link sums up exactly why I no longer seriously collect comics. They've raped and/or killed nearly all my favorite female characters. Got to the point where, as soon as I really connected with a character, she'd be offed or lose her powers and disappear for a while, only to resurface a traumatized rape victim. One they didn't rape or kill they declared profoundly delusional (Scarlet Witch), which was perhaps even more annoying - not only did she lose loving hubby and kids; she was sneered at for even wanting them!

The only ones they didn't wreck were the Invisible Woman and She-Hulk (and there's an iffy, "Wait, did I choose that or was he using his powers on me?" possible non-con incident in She-Hulk's past *sigh*). Bless John Byrne for what he did with both of them.

Sure, she’s carrying some blame that probably doesn’t really fall to her…but that’s true of most any CO who gets nailed for something bad happening on their watch. Responsibility flows up.

So ... why again are people taking Rumsfeld seriously? :-)

Because he knows things.

What I mean regarding Karpinsky is that she was the CO of a place where the left-wing's great scandal of the decade took place. It'd be like Ken Lay coming out and (skirting his responsibility for Enron) taking a stand against corporate pollution, and being hailed by the left as a hero. OK, maybe he's right on the particular question, but don't you guys hate this guy?

In other words, why the free ride for Karpinsky? Sure, she's carrying some blame that probably doesn't really fall to her...but that's true of most any CO who gets nailed for something bad happening on their watch. Responsibility flows up.

Maybe I should post this at the Margins, but I'm not sure if it's a women-only comment environment there.

Why are lefty people taking Karpinski seriously as a source?
